Native Advertising

SocialAdm January 28, 2020 0 Comments

With 4.388 billion internet users worldwide, digital marketing is proving to be an effective tool for brands to market their products or services. Digital Marketing is a significant tool for marketing which serves you with a lot of ways to market your brand digitally. Digital Marketing includes social media marketing, content marketing, performance marketing and much more. Statistics show that we encounter approximately 5000 digital ads per day. However, people are becoming more and more specific about the type of content with which they interact on the internet. Moreover, a significant amount of users tend to use various tools to block advertisements while they are surfing through the internet.

Native Advertisement

According to Google, the word native means – “associated with the place or circumstances of a person’s birth”. The same concept can be applied to native advertisements. Unlike the regular display and banner ads, Native ads fit in smoothly with the content of the website on which they are displayed. Also, they resemble the look and feel of the platform on which they are displayed which ultimately increases the trust factor of the users. The fact that nearly two-third of all digital display ad expenditure accounts for the native ads showcases the increasing popularity of this user appreciated form of advertisement. From the famous publishers’ sites to your favourite social media channels, native ads can be found anywhere.

Types of Native Ads:

In-Feed Units

In-Feed Units are the sponsored content that appears on social media sites or the publisher channel that you are surfing. They are the paid placement that is done based on your interest level and are in line with the other content displayed on the page. The appearance of these native ads varies from site to site.

Paid Search Units

Native ads have got their place in the search engines as well. They are the advertisements that appear on the top of the page of your search results. Since they are a kind of native ads, that’s why their look and feel is completely similar to that of other pages.

Recommendation Widgets

Native ads can be found in the recommendation sections of any webpage. They are usually present in the side section of the webpage or at the end of the article to recommend more such content that you might acknowledge.

Promoted Listings

At the time of online shopping, we usually see some recommendations in line with the products based on our interest level. Native ads are placed on that list that makes them look like the organic list that the e-commerce platform is offering.

Display Ad with Native Elements

These types of native ads are similar to the traditional display or banner ads running at the side or the top of the webpage. On the contrary, the content showcased in these native ads is similar to the content displayed on the webpage.

Future of Native advertisement

Currently, native advertising is more prevalent on social media than publishing websites. However, its popularity is expected to increase for both platforms in the future. Keeping in mind the current affinity of marketers towards native advertisements, we can easily say that the concept of native advertisement will surely evolve in the future. It is expected that brands will spend a significant amount of their marketing budget in the native advertisement because of its increasing popularity and trust factor among internet users.
