BINGE-WORTHY COMEDY SERIES TO WATCH THIS LOCKDOWN!
The Coronavirus lockdowns around the world have forced us all to stay inside our homes. The silver lining is that we now have more opportunities than ever before to binge-watch everything that we once had put off for another day! Though new series are still airing at a fast pace, there are moments when you just can’t beat the comfort of an old favourite. Here are some of the best comedy series you can enjoy this lockdown!
1. THE OFFICE
The Office is an American mockumentary comedy television series that shows the daily lives of office workers in the fictitious Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s Scranton division. From March 24, 2005, to May 16, 2013, it aired on NBC for a total of nine seasons.
The Office is one of those unique wonders that seamlessly draws you into its fun world, shooing away all your real-life fears and insecurities. The premise of watching a bunch of average people working an average job with average ambitions may seem very boring, but that is the main beauty of the show – beauty in simplicity. The quirky yet simple personalities of each and every character bind the show together in a way that no other show has ever been able to.
2. F.R.I.E.N.D.S
Friends is an American television sitcom that has been capturing everyone’s heart since 1994. It’s one of those shows that will never falter to get a smile on your face. The show follows the life of 6 friends living in New York in the 90s and the 2000s.
Joey, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Ross and Phoebe have the ability to capture your heart and by the time you finish, leave you yearning for more.
The show’s fandom is so deep that even after 17 years of the show ending, the announcement of a reunion broke the internet. If you haven’t watched the show, the reunion brings to you the perfect opportunity to binge it, to laugh and to cry with millions of other fans.
3. BROOKLYN NINE-NINE
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an American police procedural sitcom television series created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur.
Set in the 99th precinct of Brooklyn, the show follows the team of detectives while they solve crimes.
Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago are the two top detectives and have a bet of solving the most crimes. Rosa, Boyle, Sully and Hitchcock are the other detectives of the precinct. Sergeant Terry is the able understudy to the precincts eccentric Captain Raymond Holt.
The show is a light-hearted comedy and the acting and the jokes hit the right notch every step of the way.
The show was dropped by the producers at Fox which resulted in an uproar among the fandom. The uproar resulted in the show being taken up by NBC and it has only reached new heights since then.
B99 is commanded for its bold stance on issues of racism, LGBTQ rights and the Me-too movement.
