Binge-worthy movies to fall in love with LIFE
Pandemic has made us the king of our choices to do what we want, watch whatever, create anything, and literally experience everything, from weddings to travel to work, etc. It’s totally at the individual’s discretion on how to make the best time of this golden time. But here we would you rewatch some wholesome movies again! Movies can offer you an emotional hit from the disturbing events happening all around us. They give you a new mood to rejuvenate and relate to new stories and characters. They offer you a mixed bag of emotions, music, drama, and some alignment to relatability. It is certainly the best time to catch up again on your fav-fav movies.
Highway
Passion and heartbreak are almost always intimately connected in Imtiaz Ali’s brand of romance. However, Highway stands out. And it wasn’t just a story of love. Rather, it was a reflection of how love can heal and ruin a young woman’s acceptance of her childhood and adult trauma.
The movie beautifully portrays the journey of two broken people across the terrains of north India, who helped to heal each other. It untangles a story of a girl named Veera Tripathi, an affluent Delhi princess who finds freedom in the company of Mahabir Bhatti, a rough Gujjar criminal. The concept of a victim falling in love with her kidnapper is a novel concept in Bollywood – the Stockholm Syndrome, where a hostage forms an intense relationship with his abuser.
If you are a person who loves to watch the panoramic view of the Himalayas, a hodophile, or want to witness the feeling of snow cliffs and deep valleys, then this movie is just for YOU.
Dear Zindagi
Director Gauri Shinde subtly encouraged the Indian audience into a much-needed discourse on mental wellbeing with Dear Zindagi. Dear Zindagi was a gift that served the kind of life lessons we’ll always want to welcome, from de-stigmatizing the topic of mental health to perfectly expressing its consequences.
The movie gracefully explores the undisturbed beaches of Goa. It is a story of a blunt young girl who is facing professional issues, personal troubles, and a bitter relationship with her parents. Kaira, a cinematographer who is struggling with the peace of her life meets a psychiatrist called Dr. Jehangir Khan, who calls himself Jug to sound fervent and connect informally with his patients. He extends some life-loving advices which is deep & wholesome for everyone.
If you want a pill of self-love and wish to peacefully celebrate some highs & lows of life, then this is a must-must watch treat for your mental & emotional health.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara will have to be the film that described friendship and spirit for life for the millennial generation. This film is a tribute to Zoya’s ability to narrate compelling stories. Despite dealing with a subject as universal (yet timeless) as friendship, Zoya created a film that was both refreshing and relatable in all the right ways.
The movie is a tale of three old friends, Kabir, Arjun, and Imraan. They are reuniting after many years for a bachelor party trip before Kabir gets married. The trip changes their perception about life with many unforgettable and daring experiences. This movie is a total vagabond of emotions of love, fear, excitement, adventure, friendship, and a road trip to wish for.
The movie celebrates the bromance and lovely locations of Europe. It offers a perfect adrenaline rush with a pinch of happy tears and a moment to count on your best friends.
Barfi!
Barfi!, was as close to perfection as it comes! An original plot, lovely storyline, excellent performances, a wonderful soundtrack, and, of course, the charming cinematography—which perfectly captures the essence of Kolkata & Darjeeling—make this a film that will leave you both crying and laughing.
Barfi, a charming young deaf-mute man is a troublemaker of the town and wears his heart on his sleeve. He smitten Shruti, a Bong beauty who is all set to engage with a guy, suppresses her feelings for Barfi due to constraints in his ability. Later, in the movie, he tries to kidnap her autistic childhood friend-Jhilmil for gaining ransom for his ill father. The movie is about a deaf-mute man and an autistic who have an almost invisible friendship that speaks volumes about unconditional love.
The movie is a perfect delight to watch for something soothing, touching, and sensitive. The soul of the movie lies in the powerpack acting of superstars and the uncommon love story.
Karwaan
Karwaan promises to take you on a thrilling journey! The movie stars Irrfan Khan, Dulquer Salmaan, and Mithila Palkar, a beautiful blend of an unusual plot, heartfelt music, and a unique travel adventure. The movie holds three different actors from different cinemas.
Karwaan presents an atypical storyline where two friends and one chirpy teenager take a road journey together from Bangalore to Kochi to exchange dead bodies. Avinash, a corporate guy, receives a late-night call that his father is dead in a road accident, and he can collect the body from the Bangalore airport. But in a darkly humorous way, the wrong body is collected by Avinash and, a lady calls him up that his father’s body is in Kochi. So, for transport, he turns to his friend Shaukat. The two sorted a lot of differences on the journey and made realizations. On a similar moto journey, they are joined by a teenage girl Tanya whose grandmother’s dead body got exchanged with Avinash’s father.
The movie is all set to stoke you with Prateek Kuhad’s soulful tracks and beautiful backdrops of green Southern India’s highways. The performance of the actors is indeed commendable.
